Enjoy live music of upcoming artists in someone's kitchen, on a rooftop or in a church.
Have you ever heard about Sofar Sounds? I wish I had earlier, what a cool concept! Founders Rafe Offer and Rocky Start started their passionate mission as a hobby in London in 2009. Their mission: bring back the magic to live music. They did so by organizing low-key intimate shows in unique spaces, aiming to create performance spaces that are respectful to artists and where the audience live in the moment.
Anno 2017, Sofar Sounds is a global network of artists, hosts and guests spread out over 385 cities worldwide. Its teams hand-pick the best in upcoming music, but keep their lineups secret right up to the beginning of the stripped back show, so come with an open mind!
How does it work? Create a profile on www.sofarsounds.com and you’ll be able to apply for a show. Approximately a week before the concert, you’ll receive notice if you and your + 1 are in. Closer to the date, you’ll receive the secret address and all the info you need to attend. Costs of the tickets depends on the city, in Kampala it’s usually around 50,000 UGX.
