It’s been more than two generations that her family left India for Uganda, but in Bahvia’s shop Kona these two worlds come together.
Kona combines African weaves, materials and local manufacturing techniques with Indian beads, fabrics and patterns. This marriage between Ugandan and Indian heritage results in elegant and colorful creations like sandals, bags, jewelry and clothing. I especially like the maxi skirts, in which they have used a lot of fabric.
In the adjacent room you'll find Lifestyle by Kona, where numerous artisans are given a platform to present and sell their brand. A good place to score pretty presents like ceramics, beauty products, yoga bags, bowties, cushion covers and more.
