Piece of the action

Located on Kisementi square, you can just hop off your boda and almost immediately take a seat on the shaded terrasse of the restaurant. There are no gates, which feels really refreshing for a change. Surrounded by sombrero’s, cactus and swing doors you can observe the hustle and bustle on the popular Kisementi square. On a Friday night there’s already enough going on in the restaurant itself though. It’s a good thing we made reservations because the place was packed!

Hot & steamy

On the menu more than enough traditional Mexican food to put a smile on your face: tostadas, tacos, quesadillas, fajitas, enchilladas and burritos to name a few. We didn’t have room for afters, but I’m looking forward to trying the churros with chocolate dipping sauce and the ice cream nachos next time.

Starting with some nacho’s and mojito’s we decided we would all go sizzling ordering the fajita’s with vegetables, chicken and beef. Jeez, they weren’t kidding about that sizzling part. There was so much steam coming of those plates that my husband and I (and the people sitting behind us, no joke) had to take cover. The heat aside, the soft fajita’s with both the chicken and beef accompanied by sour cream, salsa and quacamole were definitely yum. And not that expensive. Most of the Mexican main courses are between 22K and 30K.

Next to the rather extensive choice of cocktails there are ‘only’ three South African wines on offer; white, red and sweet. But the Chenin Blanc was actually pretty good and there’s no need to put yourself out of pocket with this one since it’s only 10K a glass. A great non alchohol option is the pina fresca with pineapple, mint and lime.  

Que Pasa has different themes throughout the week like Taco Tuesday and Wings Wednesday. Everyday there's a happy hour from 4 pm to 6 pm. Arriba, arriba!
