C’est incroyable! Holy Crêpe serves sweet or savory crepes with Kololo and the rest of Kampala at your feet.
Pancakes with a view
Before your rendez-vous with a whole lotta calories, luckily you’re first going to burn some by climbing up the stairs of this modern, white appartment and hotel complex. Holy Crêpe is spread across two floors. On the first the seducing smell of waffles, crêpes and pancakes set the mood. On the second and top floor you can eat this famous flat French pancake seated at high wooden tables.
Even though the simple and clean terrace is shaded by a tented roof, it can get seriously hot up there. But the wonderful view will make you forget all about that sweaty mustache. If the view is spectacular in bright daylight, I can’t wait to see what it’s like at night.
Pancakes with sticks
Holy Crêpe offers sweet and savory crepes, like the Taiwanese Dan Bing Roll with eggs, scallions, bacon and hoisin sauce (18K, it even comes with sticks chops!) and the Margarita Pizza Crêpe with tomato sauce, cheese, oregano, basil, green pepper and onion (24K).
If you have a sweet tooth, look no further: the crêpes with cinnamon and sugar or the stack of pancakes with nutella and bacon, topped with whipped cream will make your insuline level rise sky high. If you’re not really (or really not) a fan of crêpes, pancakes or waffles, try out the omelettes, salads, bagels, French toast, muesli or fruits.
Another way to satisfy that sweet tooth is sipping one of the vodka, gin, tequila, rum or whiskey based cocktails. Next time I just have to try the popular signature cocktail Pinapple Bay (30K); pina colada served in a pineapple with two straws. Don’t forget to take a look at the non alcoholic beverages too though, because the coffee and fresh juices are really first-class.
Let’s make it a Pancake Sunday!
If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Kampala and are after stunning rooftop views and in a ‘happy crêpy’ mood, Holy Crêpe is definately worth a visit. As far as I know, it’s the only place in town with such a diverse array of crêpes. That in combination with the spectacular view, makes it a perfect place for a Sunday breakfast.
Prices are a bit high, with crêpes going up to 30.000 UGX. But especially for the kids it’s a treat to see a Nutella covered Mickey Mouse pancake smiling back at them.
