Cafesserie

Under the roof of Acacia Mall, Kampala’s finest shopping establishment, you’ll find the equally stylish Cafesserie.

Morning coffee

A perfect place to start the day with a cup of Italian coffee (or a fresh juice: the pineapple & mint and mix berry are absolutely delicious!) and a home made Danish Cinnamon. On their big spacious terrace shaded by beige sun screens you won’t feel lonely; laptop singles, mothers with toddlers and serious suits, they’ve all come to enjoy a (continental) breakfast, lunch or dinner. Like Eggs Norwegian for example: poached eggs and salmon toasted brioche served with hollandaise sauce. Pasta’s, salads, waffles, hamburgers, stakes, it’s all there and around 30,000 UGX. So far I haven’t tasted anything I didn’t like. Yes, the food is that good. Pizza Roma, topped with Parmesan, pesto and prosciutto crudo is in my opinion the best pizza in town. The spaghetti carbonara’s also pretty damn good.

French bistro style

Wooden floors, red leather sofa’s, mirrors on the white tiled pillars and high ceilings: the Cafesserie feels a bit like a French bistro, an ambiance which I haven’t encountered in Kampala before.

France isn’t far away in their inhouse bakery either: croissants come in a butter, almond and chocolate version. Luckily, the boulanger doesn’t stop at the French border. Pita buns, sun dried tomato bread, breaded pesto bread (one of my favorites!), cheese rolls, olive bread, foccacia, ciabatta and other goodies rise to great expectations in his oven and go home in a sophisticated black and white wrapper.

Tip! If you’re organizing a dinner party, but don’t feel like spending much time on the desert, buy some tiramisu or cheese cake with wild berries at the bakery. Easy peasy lemon sqeezy!
